I recently purchased these boots for woods hunting. I own a pair of 10" Guide boots, but they and my other hiking boots have lugged soles and are not the best choice for stealthy movement in the woods. Other boots of the rubber bottom style that I have tried do not have adequate support or traction for the hilly, uneven terrain of southern Illinois. The Forester, with the tire tread sole is ideal for my purpose. The sole is sensitive enough to detect a twig underfoot and ease off it before it breaks. It has just enough texture for good grip on side hills. The body of the boot offers good support for general hiking in rough country. They are fully water proof if I am crossing back and forth across creeks or going thru dewy cow pastures. These are tough, well made boots and I expect to be using them for many years.
2nd pair of these I have owned. Great boot for keeping feet dry in early mornings or rain. Very comfortable and this from someone who has a hard time finding boots that fit. Tried others. Will not bother again. This is the boot for me!
