    Sitka Mountain Pant

Posted by Carl Tidmore on Jan 1st 2020

I wanted a pant for early - mid season elk hunting for Colorado and these pants will fill the bill. I ordered the same size that I wear in jeans and the Mountain Pant fit perfect. They are very light and I tested them with a 3 mile hike with my dogs in high 40 - low 50'ish temperature and I never got cold or too hot. I would wear a base layer underneath if the temperature were 30 and below. All the pockets have zippers to keep valuables from falling out. The two large pockets on the thighs have a two button flap and there is a zipped pocket on the inside of these for more storage. These pants are made to wear around your waist like jeans riding on your hips. The knee pads are positioned where they will come into play when you actually bend down and get on your knees. I did not even notice them when walking. They can be removed very easily. With weight being a factor when hunting at higher altitudes, these pants feel almost like wearing lounge pants. Much lighter than my heavier insulated pants for late season hunting. My only con is that I like to wear button suspenders along with a belt and these pants do not come with sewn in buttons on the inside inseam. I had my local dry cleaners sew some buttons on for a modest fee.
