Caring For Your New Mountain Boots

Nikwax

We recommend using Nikwax on our Mountain Boots at least twice a year, prior to your hunting season and afterwards if you're going to store the boots until next year, and as needed throughout the year especially if you have been hunting in wet conditions.

Conditioner and Oils

We recommend using leather conditioner on our Mountain Boots after you've confirmed they fit and you're ready to begin breaking them in. We also suggest reapplying as needed throughout the lifetime of the boots as the leather begins to dry out and/or stiffen up.

HOW IT WORKS

Moisture is wicked quickly from the foot through the inner lining and into the hydrophilic intermediate layer. During strenuous physical activity the surplus moisture is buffered there and cannot get back into the inner lining due to the suction effect which is directed towards the outside. The moisture is transported to the hydrophilic membrane through an innovative intermediate layer. Once there, the moisture generates large scale activation of the hydrophilic membrane which speeds up the transmission of water vapour. This high activation (high moisture concentration on the membrane) also supports dynamic breathability.

THE BENEFIT

High wearer comfort and dry feet for maximum performance in changing climatic conditions. Faster drying of the inner lining in extremely wet conditions and reduction in odour formation. The innovative technology proves its worth in particular during strenuous physical activity in the outdoors or at work. In firefighter boots Moisture-tech® is also the solution to unpleasant heat and moisture development in the boots and thus reduces the risk of blister formation on feet.

    Beartooth 0G

Just ordered my second pair. I think I damaged my first pair by trying to dry them too close to a campfire. The first hunting season I put many, many miles on them in 5 weeks of mountain hunting (plus a few scouting trips before that) and they were the best boots I'd ever worn. Second season they felt awful, stiff and narrow but I later realized that this was my doing. Lesson learned. The footbeds definitely don't cut the mustard for me. I used Red Wing orthotics from my work boots and they were a great improvement. For my new pair I ordered some high end custom insoles but don't have any feedback to report at this time.

    Beartooth II 0G

These are new and still being broken in, but so far seem like an excellent product. Craftsmanship is excellent. Like most higher-end European Hiking boots, they seem to run a little narrow - first time I’ve needed a wide size. Only having put a few miles on these, so far they are very comfortable. I’ve battled foot pain with my previous boots in recent years. None so far with these.

    Best Boot Ever

This is my first pair of true mountain boots. I debated pulling the trigger for months, so happy i finally invested. 3 weeks in and I feel like I have been living a lie, great support and comfort, quick break in period. You won't be sorry with this choice.

    Beartooth

Made the switch to the Beartooth 5 years ago and haven't looked back. Great boot however, the last 2 pair I purchased 0gr (2/20) & 200g (4/20) along with a friends pair I turned on to them this spring, the tongue hook is useless. On all 3 pairs of boots purchased this year, the laces miss the hook, rendering it useless.

    Beartooth 2

Got a few miles on them turkey hunting this spring in Utah. They performed great in the terrain. It wasn’t much of a test but they did seem quiet and fairly light for how heavy they actually are. I’ve worn lighter boots that don’t feel as easy to walk in as these.

    Beartooth 0g, awesome boot

Posted by Josh W. on Nov 18th 2019

My first pair of Schnee's. Organic timing as my last pair of hiking/hunting boots finally wore out. I've heard / read the great reviews about Schnee's and decided to take the leap. I couldn't be happier with the boot. I've taken them on a few short moderate grade hikes, and a few steeper and more demanding hikes; they've performed wonderfully. Minimal "new boot" feelings in my feet and angles, very supportive, equally appropriate for all these hunts, and absolutely true to size. I have narrow feet and they hug my feet perfectly with the roller bearing technology. Thanks for the great product and great customer service. You've earned a loyal customer.

    Best Boots Ever Purchased

Posted by Sean Gray on Nov 11th 2019

These are the best hiking/hunting/fishing/adventuring boots I have ever owned. They are worth every penny. I consider this purchase an investment in my feet and body. When gear makes the day more enjoyable, thats when the product becomes priceless in my book. Years of trail hiking and mountain adventuring have pushed me to need and want the best boot they make... Beartooth 2.

    Very comfortable

Posted by Matthew Covington on Oct 28th 2019

These boots are very comfortable and supportive right out of the box. Don’t get me wrong I still had to break them in (and water proof them) I recommend purchasing the wax at the same time as the boots so you don’t have to pay shipping on the wax later. I really enjoy wearing these and the 0g is perfect level of warmth for me living in Arizona. - Schnee's Response: Hello and thank you for the great review. These boots are 100% waterproof and ready to go out of the box. We recommend using NikWax Waterproofing Wax as it conditions and coats the leather. This helps water bead off instead of soaking into the leather.
